Whenever the cold season comes, it brings common colds and coughs. If we want to prevent ourselves from them, we must take measures before the onset of winter. It lasts for a week and gets better, but if you have a cough for more than a week, then you need to see your doctor immediately because a long cough is a sign of another problem. Only a doctor can tell you what are the causes of cough because it can range from a common disease to a fatal disease.
CAUSES OF COUGH
- Smoking can also be a cause of cough, but smoking causes us many other diseases. Smoking damages the airways, affects the lungs, and causes a sore throat. There are sores that cause coughing, quitting smoking relieves the cough.
- Another cause could be a chest infection caused by a cold. Viruses that travels from the chest to the inside of the lungs and then causes a cough. There is a discharge of green mucus with such a cough along with fever. Usually this cough goes away on its own but if you take medicine from a doctor for it, it will be better but it will be anti-inflammatory. Antibiotic medicine will not work because it is a viral disease.
- If you have a persistent cough, be sure to get tested for TB, because TB is a common cause of coughing and does not go away. If you have a TB cough, it is severe. Bleeding also occurs and you will also feel tired. This cough needs regular treatment. Be sure to consult your doctor.
- Coughing can also be caused by heart disease. Heart disease causes body fluids to enter the lungs which causes a persistent cough. A little hard work causes shortness of breath and fatigue. Consult your doctor.
- Some medications usually cause a cough, such as if you are taking a blood pressure medication that can cause a dry cough. Similarly, if you are taking a new medication and have a cough right after, talk to a doctor in such a situation.
PREVENTATION
If you have a cough due to an illness such as asthma or tuberculosis, then seek treatment from your doctor for these illnesses. If you are allergic to food or smoking is the cause, then quit smoking. If you are allergic to food, do not use this food. The cough will go away. If it is caused by a bacterial infection, then you can treat it with antibiotics.
TREATMENT
Put two to three teaspoons of honey in a cup of lukewarm water and take it at night before going to bed. Cough will be relieved.
If you have a cough due to a sore throat, take two to three green cardamom seeds and chew it to relieve the cough.
If the cough is accompanied by discharge of yellowish mucus, take five drops of the homeopathic medicine Drusra 30 in two sips of water thrice a day.
